England vs Lithuania betting preview, predictions & tips

England are favorites to beat Lithuania at Wembley on Sunday evening and we're fully expecting England to get the job done in their World Cup 2018 qualifier.

Having come out on top convincingly when England and Lithuania met in Euro 2016 qualifiers, our tipsters expect England to ease to victory once again.

Having suffered his 1st defeat as England manager in Wednesday’s 1-0 International Friendly loss in Germany, Southgate will be looking for a reaction when Lithuania visit Wembley for Sunday’s World Cup 2018 qualifier and bag all 3 points.

England vs Lithuania Betting Tips

Despite a positive performance in Germany, England didn't take their chances when they were on top and eventually lost 1-0 to the World Champions. A very young side ended the match though and in terms of the future, there are different things to be positive about.

It's important not to look too far ahead, but with reference to next summer's 2018 World Cup, you'd expect England to be in better shape than they were for the disastrous Euro 2016 campaign.

This could be centered around 20-year-old Deli Alli. He has had a stunning season at Tottenham and with Wayne Rooney retirement, he could be the man Southgate builds this young England team around.

We think Alli will grab a goal against Lithuania on Sunday's World Cup 2018 qualifier. He should have grabbed at least one on Wednesday against Germany. With England likely to dominate possession, Alli can score at least once in this fixture.

Southgate is likely to keep the 3-4-3 formation with Kyle Walker and Ryan Bertrand offering the width. Alli, Adam Lallana supporting the main striker, which was Jamie Vardy on Wednesday against Germany.

Having won their last 11 consecutive qualification matches on home soil, scoring 31 and conceding twice in that run, it seems safe to predict another victory for England.

Having eased to 3-0 and 4-0 victories against Lithuania in the qualification campaign for Euro 2016, odds @ 19/20 (1.95) look more than secure on England coming out on top by at least 3 goals once again this time out.

A confident display should be more than enough for England to return to winning ways when they take on Lithuania, a team that has only beaten San Marino in their last 17 fixtures away from home, managing to find the net just 6 times in that stretch.

Without 1 win in 6 competitive away matches, Lithuania are @ 25/1 (26.00) outsiders to become the 1st visiting team to win at Wembley since Croatia claimed a shock 3-2 victory in 2007.

Lithuania earned a 1-1 draw in Scotland back in October 2016 and can be backed @ 15/2 (8.50) to collect another valuable point at Wembley in this encounter.

England vs Lithuania Stats

The 1-0 defeat to Germany on Wednesday was England's first since Euro 2016.
At home, England have won 16 of their last 17 World Cup 2018 qualifiers.
Lithuania have lost their last 2 matches without scoring, conceding 7 goals.
Lithuania have failed to win away from home since September 2014.
