Juventus F.C. vs Real Madrid C.F. - UEFA Champions League Final Betting tips and Match Preview

The biggest match of the football season finally has its matchup as the 5-time Italian Champions & 2015 UCL finalist Juventus F.C. take on Los Galacticos, Real Madrid C.F. the defending UCL Champions.  Real Madrid C.F, winners in 2 of the last 3 UCL finals, head into this match as favorites but Juventus F.C. should not be counted out.

Juventus F.C. and Real Madrid C.F. had similar but different runs through the UCL knockout stage to get to the UCL Final 2017.  Juventus F.C. dispatched of FC Porto, FC Barcelona, and AS Monaco all without allowing a goal until the last 10 minutes of the semi-final against Monaco.  Certainly not to be outdone, Real Madrid C.F. knocked out S.S.C. Napoli, FC Bayern Munich & Atletico Madrid on their way to their 2nd consecutive UCL final.

The respective UEFA Champions League runs for each team can be defined by the form of an individual or unit.  For Real Madrid C.F, it's all about Cristiano Ronaldo.  Heading into the UCL Quarter-Final against Bayern Munich, Cristiano Ronaldo had, statistically, his worst UCL campaign in a Real Madrid shirt.  Only 2 goals in 7 matches, and none since October 2016.  Cristiano Ronaldo scored 8 goals in his next 3 matches.

For Juventus F.C, it's all about their incredible defense.  Led by goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, either the pairing of Leonardo Bonucci & Giorgio Chiellini or their stellar back trio with Andrea Barzagli added to the group.  Juventus F.C. hadn't allowed a goal in the UEFA Champions League since November before that Kylian Mbappe finish on Tuesday. Their stellar defense has allowed for incredible free flowing attacking play from great players.  Paulo Dybala along with veterans like Gonzalo Higuain and Dani Alves have stolen the show in the UCL knockout stages.

Juventus and Real Madrid do have a bit of familiarity about them, not only because of their long and rich histories in this competition.  Both teams have met multiple times in the UCL final, with their last meeting coming in the 1998 UCL Final in Amsterdam with Real Madrid C.F's manager Zinedine Zidane playing for Juventus.  More recently they met in a UCL semi-final during the 2015 UCL campaign.

That UCL semi-final featured many of the same faces on the Real Madrid C.F. team, many of the starters for both legs will look to start in the final.  Juventus F.C. is another story, outside of Buffon, Bonucci & Chiellini none of Juventus F.C’s expected starters started in either leg of that UCL semi-final.  None of the members of Juventus’s 5-star midfield, Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado, Miralem Pjanic, and ex-Madrid man Sami Khedira were on the team in 2015.

That lineup might be the key to Juventus winning the UEFA Champions League this year.  When Juventus lost the UCL final in 2015, CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Manager Massimiliano Allegri decided they needed to have more possession to stand a chance against clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona.  Juventus already have beaten Barcelona and now they’re final test awaits.

The match should be an absolute cracker with sparkle and superstars all over the field.  But for me the where the game is going to be won or lost is in on the wings, at the feet of both sets of fullbacks.  Marcelo and Dani Carvajal for Real Madrid C.F. and Alex Sandro and Dani Alves for Juventus F.C. are four of the best fullbacks the world has to offer.  The argument could be made the Marcelo & Dani Alves have been the best two players in the UCL knockout stage.

Dani Carvajal will not be able to play but be sure he will try to.  Carvajal was ruled out for 3-4 weeks after last weeks first leg of UCL semi.  Carvajal's will be vital to Madrid being able to corral Alex Sandro down the left flank for Juventus.

The battle between Marcelo & Dani Alves is a matchup we’ve seen in many matches.  All those Barcelona v Real Madrid matches have yielded fantastic performances from both players.  Whichever one of these two outstanding fullbacks can produce more going forward is going to take the first step towards the trophy.

There will be quality all over the field and chances to win for both sides.  Real Madrid C.F.'s attack should be able to score, but then again we thought the same thing about Barcelona.  It might just be time for Juventus F.C, they've won 5 straight titles in Italy and not gotten the recognition they deserve.  It feels like that time is now, and one very elusive trophy will finally be lifted in the hands of a legend.
